Fall brings a fresh rhythm to Prairie — more people in the building, programs starting up, and a lot happening behind the scenes. All of that takes a wide circle of hands on Sundays and it's true: Prairie is what it is because of it's people.
What’s especially helpful is being able to plan ahead so Sunday mornings run smoothly, feel settled and welcoming. This makes a real difference in how Prairie functions and in how people experience worship.
We're looking for volunteers to help out on Sundays. Sign up once, occasionally, monthly, weekly ... your time is meaningful and gratefully appreciated in the areas of greeting, hospitality, setup, children’s ministry, A/V, and more. Each role is a chance to shape the life of the church and support a community you care about.
How? It's easy! Just click the link below to sign up.
Here’s some details about the roles available:
CHAIR SET-UP You can set up chairs while listening to the beautiful music rehearsal. You’ll receive instructions on the layout. Arrive by 9:15.
SOUND Setting up the sound equipment and running the sound board is a critical role within the overall music and worship of the Church! If you haven’t done this before, you will get training! Arrive by 8:00am.
COMPUTER Usually this is done on Keynote on a Mac (similar to Powerpoint). You don’t have to do any set up, you are simply clicking through the presentation during the service. Arrive by 9:50am.
REFRESHMENTS Make and put out coffee, juice, water, and other snacks. We’d love to have this before and after worship, but if you sign up - your choice! We will contact you if there are special snacks or if a meal gets planned for a day you sign up for.
CHILDREN’S MINISTRY There are three age groups including Nursery (under 3 years), KidVenture (ages 4 - 11), and Youth (ages 12+). The Children’s Ministry Coordinator will help to guide and provide more information for whichever area you’re able to help with.
WELCOMING Smile and welcome people as they enter. Help people get oriented to the space if they need assistance. Arrive by 9:40, and stay by the door until about 10:05.
SCRIPTURE READING If you want to read scripture in the service, sign up. You’ll be contacted with the reading for your day.
LEADING PRAYERS Prepare and lead the spoken prayers during worship. We’ll send you the outline ahead of time, and you can shape it in your own voice. Arrive a few minutes early so we can walk through where it fits in the service.
MUSIC MAKING Help lead music during worship by singing or playing an instrument. The Music Coordinator coordinate with you beforehand and let you know what’s planned and to provide additional information.
